IDEA

Working with Oakley VR to model objects for a Hololens project that show cased the inner workings of the the Renault Trezor concept car.

CHALLENGES

Supplied with the original CAD files extract the elements needed for the project along with exterior elements that would need complete remodelling.

SOLUTION

The hardest part of this project was modelling the exterior parametric surfaces. The Hololens demo shows which surfaces on the car were covered in the parametric effect developed by Renault. The original CAD model was far to detailed to just extract and use. So the entire surfaces had to be built using spline and surface modelling. The interior elements were extracted and optimised from the original CAD model with only the electric motor needing to be completely built from scratch using visuals and research media. The final models were tested in Unity before being supplied to Oakley VR for integration into the project.

TECHNOLOGIES USED

3DS Max, Unity

RESULT

The project was completed and used for the London Design Junction show at Kings cross. Visuals shot through the Hololens can be seen on the video link below along with renders of the car models and photos of the concept car.
